Domaine Tawse 2020 Savigny-Les-Beaune 1er Cru "Les Lavieres", Burgundy

This very limited, and graceful, red Burgundy comes from the Les Lavieres vineyard, named “Les Lavieres” because of the large slabs of limestone found in the vineyard reminded them of lava. Located at the base of the hill the soils are also made up of sandy clay which is fantastic for drainage, essential in the region as mildew can be a problem. We poured this wine at a recent tasting and it ended up being one of my favorites. Splashy with raspberry and black current, burnt orange rind and dried rose petals. In the mouth the wine is medium bodied with fine tannin, showing incredible energy and lift. I wish they made a perfume that smelled like this wine, that way I could be haunting too. Only 100 cases made.
