Egly-Ouriet was one of the first small grower Champagnes that not only kicked off an entire movement of like-minded growers, it became one of them with a nearly cult like following. Famed Champagne writer Peter Liem, has been known to say that the oft over-used term, “like Burgundy with bubbles” was invented for Egly-Ouriet. Equal parts Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier, all of which have an average vine age of 40 years. This is a power packed bottle of Champagne. Massive fruit, massive texture, massive intensity, but all without clobbering you and leaves the palate with a delicate pie crust finish. Brilliant wine from start to finish.
