Francois Chidaine 2022 Touraine Gamay, Loire Valley--NOVEMBER WINE OF THE MONTH!
The great Francois Chidaine, internationally-acclaimed master of Loire Valley Chenin Blanc, applies his deft touch and class to Gamay, the all purpose red wine that is meant to provide pleasure with each sip. Although you’ll find Chidaine’s wines on most French Michelin 3-star wine lists, he remains a modest, almost shy fellow who is absolutely dedicated to his craft.
Unlike Beaujolais, the world’s most famous Gamay region, Chidaine’s Touraine version is darker and a tad more intense in flavor, featuring a typical Loire Valley red wine earthiness surrounding a delightful core of fruit that’ll charm nearly everyone who encounters it.
Farmed organically and biodynamically from parcels near the Cher river, Chidaine uses indigenous yeasts for fermentation in stainless steel tanks. You will be impressed by its dark color and the juicy fruit in its core. Juicy, friendly, gulp-able and fun, with a little earthy component in reserve. It just may be the ideal choice for holiday dinners. Once sampled, we are confident you will be back for more.
