Gassier 2025 Vermentino, Cotes De Provence
Maison Gassier is located near Puyloubier, a small town east of Aix-en-Provence and about an hour’s drive north of Bandol tucked just below some imposing hills to the north in the prestigious Saint-Victoire region. The house was founded in 1982, and by the looks of it, they have really hit their stride, producing some of the most exciting wines in Provence. Last year we were introduced to Gassier with its spectacular rosé which became one of our top-selling wines of the year. This year, the importer introduced us to its white companion, a crisp, refreshing Vermentino, offered in an eye-catching six-sided bottle. Needless to say, we were equally charmed.
Vermentino, the very popular coastal Mediterranean white wine variety, is also known as Rolle in the south of France. Since more wine consumers are familiar with the Sardinian and Tuscan name, the Gassier winery decided to label their American bottling with the name Vermentino.
In a striking 6-sided bottle, this is a bright-tasting, lively wine with penetrating flavors that somehow remain uplifting, not heavy at all. This wine could be the surprise hit of the summer.
