Gomez Cruzado 2017 'Honorable' Rioja, Spain

The Gomez Cruzado winery was started in the late 1800’s and is located in the historic town of Haro next to CVNE, Lopez de Heredia and Muga.  Their ‘Honorable’ wine is made in the Reserva style with 18 months of oak aging in both French and American oak.  This is a classic, richer style of Rioja with floral, oak spice and fruity aromas.  On the palate it’s deep and full-bodied with dense black cherry fruits yet it has nice acidity that keeps it from getting too heavy.  Nice hints of herbs and baking spices nicely round out the richness.
