Guy Larmandier N.V. Premier Cru Brut Champagne
We’ve had some success with the Brut Rose from Guy Larmandier so I thought people might be ready for a exciting new wine from this classic domaine. Guy Larmandier is located in Vertus, a 1er Cru village at the southern end of the Cote des Blancs. Production is tiny, less than 7,500 cases a year, but that makes it one of our largest small growers if you can believe that. This zero dosage, (no added sugar) is made from 90% Chardonnay and 10% Pinot Noir, and while there is zero dosage added the fruit here is so effusive that it doesn’t need anything added. Green apple, faint chalk, loads of warm, eggy, buttery bread and toasted nuts and dried peach flesh. Light and airy on the palate, this is on the graceful end of low/no sugar added Champagne. The dry finish is craving seafood, caviar, salty goodies like tempura and potato chips.
