Lady of The Sunshine 2022 Chardonnay, Chene Vineyard, Edna Valley, California

The 2020 harvest marked the first official year certified biodynamic under Demeter (after our 3 year conversion period) at the Chene Vineyard and the third vintage I have completed farming the vineyard full circle.  The one acre of Wente Clone Chardonnay yielded 3 tons and was picked on the 27th of August.  The grapes were foot crushed and soaked on the skins overnight before being whole bunch pressed the next morning.  The juice was collected and barreled down to ferment with native yeast in neutral oak barrels.  The fermentation was encouraged to keep warm by soaking in the sun throughout the duration of the fermentation before going dry.  The wine aged on it's lees for 9 months before being racked for the first time to bottle, unfined & unfiltered.
