Laporte 2023 Sancerre "Les Grandmontains", Loire

This winery was founded in 1850 as a collaboration, but it is now just one half, the famous half, the family Bourgeois which are the largest vineyard owners in the Loire Valley. This is 100% organic Pinot Noir from vines planted in the early eighties. Getting a faint smokiness on the nose along with tangy red fruit and a crack of broken stones. Light but not too lean on the palate with plenty of fun herbal and red fruit on the finish. I would love this with roast chicken, simple beef dishes as well as heartier fish and mushroom based dishes.
