Les Safres 2020 Chateauneuf-Du-Pape, "Le Clos du Caillou", Rhone, France

We have been long time fans of Le Clos du Caillou Cotes du Rhone which offers a punch of dark fruit, luscious mouthfeel and extraction. Well, this big brother of a wine is all that and more. 95% Grenache and 5% Mourvedre, all organic and biodynamically farmed/treated. This is a broad, dark, stuffed and unapologetically showy. Nearly decadent in is weight but with some sizeable tannin as well. Would be best with a decant to shake some of the meaty off as it were. Big, round, mouth staining.
