A blend of 38% Zinfandel, 21% Petit Sirah, 17% Nero d’Avola, 16% Carignan, 4% Valdigue and 4% Colombard, the Zin, Petit Sirah and Nero d’Avola were fermented and aged separately, while the Carignan, Valdigue and Colombard were co-fermented.
Description
All the wine was aged in neutral oak for 5 months. The first thing of note on the palate is how much liveliness (acidity) this wine has for being a 4-year-old low intervention wine. Rich notes of blackberry, black plums, raspberries and black cherry coat the palate. If you are drinking this wine at room temperature or close to it, you’ll get hints of leather and light cola spice. If you chill this wine down, those leather and spice notes almost disappear, leaving you with a vibrant and fruit forward wine.
The Wine Country.
