Mas De Daumas Gassac 2021 Brut Rose Frizant, France

This sparkler is unique in so many ways. First of all, it’s organic from the Languedoc. Second, there is zero added sugar, or no dosage as they say in sparkling wine. Third, this Rose sparkler is made from Cabernet Sauvignon and Mourvedre, two grapes almost never used to make sparkling wines. Unique is cool and all but it has to be delicious before I bring it in and this wine, well, it’s delicious. Meaty, deep, has some pepper notes mixed in with bright red berries. Creamy with softer bubbles and a fine bead. Slight bread/yeasty notes on the long, savory finish. This wants burgers, brunch, steak sandwiches or fried chicken.
