A blend of 70% Sangiovese, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, 10% Merlot.  This a deep, rich wine packed with red and black cherry fruit with herbs and oak spice adding complexity.  The wine is elegant, fresh, not overdone and has great length.
Description

Producer Notes: Intense and deep ruby red color. Complex on the nose, reminiscent of forest fruits, jam, sweet spices, thyme and cocoa. Full-bodied. Excellent balance between alcohols and polyalcohols, acids and tannins, with a persistent finish and a pleasant sweet, fresh and fruity follow-through. It goes well with mature cheeses, red meat and game.

Critical Acclaim

94 pts Vinous: An intense mix of black raspberry, wild herbs, air-dried meats and smoke form an incredibly deep and characterful bouquet as the darkly alluring 2020 Carmignano Il Sasso opens in the glass. For all of its animalistic nature on the nose, this is remarkably finessed and vivid on the palate. Saline-infused acids energize tart berry fruits. This finishes only lightly structured, marrying a bitter cherry pit twang with hints of blood orange that keep me looking back to the glass for more. The 2020 may be a thrill ride on the palate today, but with a short stay in the cellar, I expect it to explode aromatically. A total knock-out.

92 pts James Suckling: A pleasant, juicy red with currant, berry and walnut character. Some chocolate, too. Medium body. Sangiovese, cabernet sauvignon and merlot. Drink or hold.
