Tortoise Creek 2020 Merlot "The Revivalist", Clarksburg, California

Clarksburg, just south of Sacramento, is an excellent region for some high quality old vine stuff: Chenin Blanc and Merlot are two of the old vine plantings that are always rich, complex, and a great value! This Merlot from Tortoise Creek is no exception: medium to full bodied and full of juicy damson plum, blueberry, and blackberry with pretty violet and a hint of lavender, cinnamon, and nutmeg to round out the fruit. Cocoa and coffee notes linger through the long finish. This is a steal for the money and pairs well with any stewed meat dish, and other heartier fare. It also puts on a great solo act if you just want to sip out on the porch!
