ONLY ONE REGION FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE

If I were forced to choose only one region in the world to drink wine from, for like the rest of my life, I would at first be cranky as all hell. What do you mean I can only drink wines from one place for the rest of my life?! But after some fussing and fuming I would have to say, “Wines from the Loire Valley” as my final, and not too apologetic answer.

As most of you know, I am a total freak for all things Champagne and Burgundy. Alsace is where I cut my teeth, as it were, in the wine business, so it will forever hold a special place in my heart, and at my dinner table, and while I am known to swoon over other regions with curiosity and wonder but when it comes to diversity and simple pleasure, for daily drinking and beyond, I have to give it up for France’s Loire Valley. When you discover all that is there, from collectable and rare, to simple case stacks of chugable and delicious wine with or without bubbles, red, pink, white, dry, or sweet, Loire is clutch. The GOAT if you will.

Whenever I do an Intro to French Wine night I always get hung up by Loire. I mean, how can I cover all of France not dedicate four or five slots to the Loire Valley? It’s too large and, as I mentioned before, so diverse that it’s too difficult to try and explain the region within a few tastes. Nope, it demands its own tasting and that is why we feature these wines a couple times a year, just to make sure we cover it all for you.

Join me this Friday, April 28th for our latest stroll through France’s Loire Valley. We will taste Sancerre, Saumur-Champigny, Montlouis, Sparkling Vouvray and more. Still a few seats available and here are just a couple of the wines I will be featuring.

2019 Francois Chidaine Montlouis Clos Habert $41.99

2019 Domaine Dagueneau Pouilly-Fume Silex  $169.99

2021 Domaine Vacheron Sancerre  $44.99

2019 Catherine and Pierre Breton Bourgueil Clos Senechal  $44.99
