Cherry, plum, and dusty red rose deepen into cedar and clove, all lifted by a thread of basalt earth. Plush yet poised—Pinot that holds steady, not prances.
Description

The Domaine Lumineux 2021 Reserve Pinot Noir opens with an alluring hush. It begins as cherry and plum, folded gently into dusty red rose petals before cedar and clove rise—spice not spotlight. There’s a warmth, yes, but anchored by a subtle trace of basalt earth that feels like the soil speaking back.

On the palate, the experience mirrors that soft initial hush. Fruit rolls in expansive, layered curves—ripe but not heavy—then gathers itself. Tannins are soft; it’s the modest mineral vein that shapes memory, not sweetness. This wine has generosity, but it’s intent on subtlety.

That framework comes from where it’s planted. Rising from Dundee Hills’ volcanic Jory soils—reddish, sandy, and drenched by marine breeze—the vineyard wraps the fruit in terroir instead of texture. Reserve pulls from the oldest and highest blocks: Block B (clone 114) for structure and savory depth, Block E (clone 115) for immediacy, and Block D (clone 943) for dark fruit and weight. Together, they form depth with poise.

The craftsmanship mirrors that clarity. Sixteen months in 100% French oak, just 40% new, isn’t bluster—it’s architecture. Winemaker Dave Petterson and the team treat extraction and oak as tools in service to vineyard expression, not voice suppression.

Domaine Lumineux 2021 Reserve Pinot Noir—volcanic finesse meeting depth, framed by precision and held by soil.
