Lando "Resilience" 2020 Pinot Noir, Sta. Rita Hills, Sonoma County
The Lando “Resilience” 2020 Pinot Noir tells a different kind of vintage story. Sonoma fruit was compromised by smoke, so the search for clean grapes took Lando south to Sta. Rita Hills. What emerged is a Pinot built on adaptation, carrying its name with purpose.
In the glass, the wine is taut and bright. Red cherry and strawberry sit at the center, framed by fennel seed, dried rose, and a faint ember of smoke. It’s fragrant without leaning into sweetness, more herbal than plush.
The palate shows drive rather than volume—raspberry and cranberry pulse against a cool mineral edge, while tannins stay fine and persistent. Acidity holds everything together, sharpening the fruit into focus.
Sta. Rita Hills makes itself known here. The transverse valley pulls cold Pacific air inland, keeping fruit lean and aromatic. The region’s marine soils—sand, clay, and diatomaceous earth—give Pinot an imprint of salt and stone. That signature is clear in this bottling.
Resilience isn’t just a clever label—it’s the character of the wine. This Pinot doesn’t coat the glass with richness; it moves with definition and lift, more silhouette than mass.
Lando 2020 Resilience—coastal Pinot shaped by circumstance, carried by place.
