Ca'del Bosco N.V. Franciacorta Cuvee Prestige 47a Edizone, Lombardy, Italy

We are quite impressed with the elite bottling from the veteran Lombardy bubbly producer.  Ca del Bosco’s first release was in 1963 at the dawn of the region’s emergence as a sparkling wine center.  This luxury cuvee is made from Chardonnay, Pinot Nero and Pinot Bianco, and though it is a dry bubbly, the straw-colored wine has a lot of flavor packed in.  In the mouth, the effervescence expands, tickling the palate and preparing it for an impressively long aftertaste.  This is one of the most satisfying sparkling wines we’ve encountered from the highly regarded northern Italian region.
