Albert Boxler 2023 Chasselas, Alsace

While relatively unknown here in the states Chasselas, a white wine variety, is actually a wildly planted throughout Europe, with the most success in Switzerland. Albert Boxler is one of the most respected estates in Alsace and Albert’s grandson Jean is making a pretty incredible Chasselas. This is a dry white, but there is a ton of texture and fruit happening here too. Quince, red apple, Meyer lemon flesh, some tropical, almost melon and kiwi note adding extra freshness. There is a slight herbal and almond note on the back which adds intrigue. Think sausages, fatty fishes, salty cheeses and hearty veggies like artichoke, sunchoke and celery root.
