Andre Heucq 2019 Heritage Rose de Meunier Champagne "Nature Terroir"

I was on a much needed weekend getaway to Charleston. I wobbled into a cute little wine bar/shop and although I told my husband I wanted to be under the radar in terms of people knowing I was, "In the business" but the second I sat down this came falling out of my face, "Do you have any grower Champagne?". Me sitting there with my cork tattoos on my arms, asking for grower Champagne, incognito I was not. There was a very charming and excited young man named Joe behind the bar and he reached for this wine. A grower Champagne I had not only never tried, had never heard of?! Yeah, I had to order the second to last bottle they had. Went back the next day and got the other bottle. It was that good.  

Located in the heart of the Marne region of Champagne. A region known for Pinot Meunier as it thrives there because of the unique green clay soils. No oak, 30 year old vines and zero sugar added. This is a truly unique Rose that has notes of almond, stone fruit, tart red berries and even has a touch of tannin on top of the tiny little bead of bubbles. Very cool and very rare, only 200 cases made.
