Aurore Casanova NV Champagne Puisieulx Grand Cru "Les Petites Vignes" Pinot Noir

Aurore Casanova was a prima ballerina before returning home to Champagne to take over the vines, and take over she has. With a focus on organic farming, clean soils and wines of precision and power she is creating her own ballet through the wines she is producing. Les Petites Vignes Pinot Noir comes from a selection of grapes grown on vines that were planted in 1968 & 1969, so you have some very old vines here, which gives this Pinot Noir based Champagne astounding complexity. Quite dry with dried stone fruit, chalky, slightly doughy notes. The richness comes in on the palate but while rich there is a zingy pop on the finish. Long lived wine that aches for complex dishes, even Asian dishes would sing here.
