Avinyo 2020 Cava Brut Nature Reserva "Can Fontanals", Penedes Spain

This is the first time in memory we’ve offered the delicious Can Fontanais bottling from Avinyò.  With a typical Catalan blend of 70% Xarel-lo, 25% Macabeo and 5% Paralleda, it spends an astonishing 48 months on the lees.  You would think the bubbly is all yeasty, but it’s not.  It’s a serious premium cava—you can tell just by its complex and compelling aroma.  With a personality lighter than that of champagne, it is a dry bubbly that is fresh-tasting with ample appley fruit.  A handsome cava at a very fair price.  Incidentally, grandma designed the impressive art work on the label and on the cork cap under the foil, using the native tiles as inspiration.
