Bachelet-Monnot 2022 Maranges 1er Cru Rouge "La Fussiere", Burgundy

Bachelet-Monnot has been growing in terms of attention from collectors, critics and fellow winemakers around Burgundy as of late, and it has been their mastery with Chardonnay that brought them to the spotlight but much like Comte Lafon, as good as the whites are, the reds are equally as thrilling. This 1er Cru Maranges is a screaming deal for the price. Coming from 50 year old-plus, vines and aged in 20% new oak, this is a luscious, early drinking Burgundy that has plenty of grip to it as well. Black cherries, Asian spicing, hints of green, all with a medium weight and a sexy nibble of acidity/tannin on the finish. Think fattier meats and cheeses, or rich stewed dishes.
