Great quality Chardonnay grown in the Herault Valley in Languedoc, harvested and cold-transported to Meursault where it is made just like the estate's premier cru. Surprisingly good.
Description
No, it’s not grown in Burgundy, but the wine is made in Burgundy. Does that make sense? More specifically, in Meursault. Grown in the Herault valley in Languedoc, these Chardonnay grapes are transported in refrigerated trucks to the Boyer-Martinet winery in Meursault where the wine is crafted just like a premier cru wine—aged 12 months in barrel and racked for 8 months in concrete eggs before bottling. As a result, the aroma resembles an expensive white Burgundy. In the mouth, it has a round texture and surprisingly accomplished Chardonnay fruit. What it lacks in Burgundian length, it certainly makes up for with its comparatively low price. Give it a try.
The Wine Country.
