Chateau Clauzet 2015 Saint-Estephe, Bordeaux
“This 23-hectare estate in Saint-Estèphe has produced a beautiful 2015 Château Clauzet based on 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot, and the balance Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc, all of which was brought up in 30-40% new barrels. It offers a dark, plumy nose, with more black cherry, singed leather and scorched earth nuances, medium body, ripe tannin, and a concentrated, slightly four-square style. It will keep for a decade or more.”—Jeb Dunnuck
“Tasted at the Cru Bourgeois annual tasting, the 2015 Clauzet has a feisty but engaging bouquet with plenty of red cherry, cranberry and crushed strawberry fruit that leaps from the glass. The palate is fleshy and confit-like on the entry with plenty of cranberry and pomegranate fruit, nicely judged acidity with a hint of spice toward the cohesive finish. It will need a couple of years in bottle but there is good potential here. This is another Saint-Estèphe 2015 that has shown improvement in bottle versus barrel.”—Neal Martin, RobertParker.com
