Domaine Bader-Mimeur Chateau De Chassagne-Montrachet 2022 Chassagne-Montrachet Rouge, Burgundy

We approached this wine with great anticipation, and are we glad we did!  More often than not, we find the rare reds of this predominantly white wine region to be charming at a young age, this wine was all of that and more.  With pretty aromatics that suggest red and black cherries, it is a medium-bodied wine packed with bright cherry flavors.  Juicy and fruity right out of the gate, it is a real joy to drink.  Those new to red Burgundy should love this wine.

The commune of Chassagne-Montrachet has always been known for their rich, full-bodied, long lived white wines made from Chardonnay, but they have always grown and made some red, most of which never left the region, until now. With Burgundy prices climbing with each vintage, and availability of the wines shorter due to climate shifts causing chaos in the vineyards, importers are seeking out lesser-known villages to scoop up wines that still speak of Burgundy, and don’t have you dipping into the kid's college fund to buy them.  This is a wine for simple dishes like roast beef, chicken, salmon or braised dishes.
