Famille Barraud 2024 Pouilly-Fuisse 1er Cru "Sur la Roche", Burgundy

In 2019, Pouilly-Fuissé was awarded Premier Cru status for their top vineyards, among them “Sur la Roche” which translates to “Under the Rock”, referring to the Gibralter-like outcropping Roche de Vergisson where hang gliders and rock climbers meet above the area’s finest Chardonnay vineyards.  This outstanding white Burgundy is a throwback to an earlier style more similar to Chablis than the Côte d’Or.  This wine was grown on 60 year old vines, then barrel fermented using indigenous yeast and aged in 20% new oak barriques.  It sports a medium straw color with a gorgeous aroma of very light oak and an irresistible floral component.  With an elegant texture, this fine white has a classic minerally aftertaste that leaves you wanting more.
