One of Kermit Lynch's great red wine discoveries from the south of France. "Look where no one else is looking," he'd say. You'll be pleasantly surprised at how accomplished this wine is.
Description
There were a few years in the 1980s and early 1990s when importer Kermit Lynch discovered several affordable, and quite accomplished red wine estates in France’s Languedoc region, the notorious “wine lake” that before Kermit has only been producing plonk for the masses. One of those discoveries was Aupilhac from Montpeyroux. Over the years d’Aupilhac’s style has become ever more impressive, blending organically grown Grenache, Syrah, Alicante Bouchet and the local Aramon grown atop a hillside chiseled out by the vintner. The result is a highly appealing red-and-black fruited, clean red wine finishing with a little grip. A real bargain.
The Wine Country.
