Domaine de Trevallon 2022 Alpilles Rouge, Provence

The vineyard was once described by Robert Parker a “moonscape.”  Trévallon at the time broke all the rules for proper Aix-en-Provence winemaking, messing around with Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah in unconventional ways (50-50).  What followed was a legendary creation that divided the purists from the progressives.  (It was actually the first French winery I ever visited.)  Bottled unfined and unfiltered.  Importer’s note:  A perfect balance of ripe fruit, tannins and bright acidity are the hallmark of this wine.  Very rare is the vintage of any wine where we can truthfully say that the wine will drink well in its youth, but age gracefully for years.
