The Sauvignon Blancs grown in Menetou-Salon are usually a bit rounder and softer than those of neighboring Sancerre. Perhaps best of all for us on a budget, the straightforward white wines are less expensive, too.
Description
Menetou-Salon is one of the string of Sauvignon Blanc villages stretching west of Pouilly-Fumé and Sancerre. While usually lacking the vivacity of Sancerre, it makes up in elegance and texture. With a lovely perfume and rounder mouthfeel than the estate’s Sancerre, this wines is straightforward, true to its place and very nice to drink. Best of all is its value, which makes it an excellent alternative to the ever-pricier tags on Sancerre and Pouilly-Fumé bottles nowadays.
