Domaine Huet 2020 Vouvray Moelleux Premiere Trie Le Mont, Loire Valley

When Chenin Blanc is perfect in the legendary Le Mont vineyard of the equally legendary Huet estate, the wine practically makes itself, deciding whether to be dry, off-dry or, like this beautiful example, sweet.  The sweetness is present, but not super-sweet like an Eiswein, more like a German Auslese tempered by impressive acidity.  That gives the wine a fresh aftertaste and the ability to age for a long time.  There is a hint of botrytis character in the wine, but clean, pure flavors are the dominant character here.  Grown biodynamically, the “Premier Trie” is the first selection of perfect grapes.  This wine could age from 20 to fifty or more years, but who can resist it now?
