Domaine Zind Humbrecht 2022 Riesling Turckheim, Alsace
Winery Notes: “In 2023, given the small harvest of Riesling in the Herrenweg area of Turckheim, mainly affected by coulure during flowering, then a very dry episode in summer, we were forced to blend our Riesling Turckheim with our Roche Roulée cuvée to produce only one wine. The average age of the vines is therefore much higher than 36 years if a precise calculation were made. The gravelly soils of Turckheim, unlike the limestone or granite hills, would have benefited from more rainfalls through the summer. Despite a good and fertile budbreak, the small size of the berries is responsible for a significant loss of harvest on this cuvée, but also largely explains the ripe aromatic potential of this vintage as harvest was delayed later than initially expected. A good health and a successful maturity will have allowed a fairly rapid fermentation to result in a very easily dry wine.”
