Gamba Estate "MCM" 2022 Old Vine Zinfandel, Russian River Valley, Sonoma Valley

The most intensely flavored and powerful wine of our January Zinfandel event, it is named for the year the vineyard was planted, 1900, and it was also the most expensive and popular wine on the table that day.  It is amazing to sample a wine harvested from 122-year-old vines, and even more amazing to behold its concentrated, nearly port-like fruit.  Gamba, a Zin we hadn’t offered in a long time, is the finest example of the full-throated old DeLoach-style Zins of the early 1990s, and their trademark wine when we last featured it is now called the MCM.
