Gitton Pere & Fils 2024 Sancerre "Les Montachins", Loire Valley

It has been said that Pascal Gitton was among the first Sancerre producers to bottle single-vineyard wine.  Now in his late 70s, he has been succeeded by his daughter Chantal who continues the practice, making small quantities of wines from these select properties.  Her Montachins is from a plot of 54 year old vines grown in Portlandian limestone and vinified completely in stainless steel to maximize freshness.  The aroma is more floral than herbaceous, and the bright, clean flavors offer suggestions of fresh grapefruit.  A handsome Sancerre.
