Inspired by the great eisweins of Germany, this Canadian sweet super-late harvest Riesling was harvested in January and fermented to a concentrated sweetness that has to be sampled to be believed. It is superb.
Description

Icewine is puzzling to most American wine drinkers—they simply have not experienced one of the world’s greatest flavors.  To concentrate the sweetness in this rare specialty, after hanging on the vines until January, grapes were harvested at a frigid minus 10 degrees Celsius, so you might imagine there isn’t a lot of juice produced.  It’s been our experience that Riesling is Inniskillin’s greatest grape for Icewine, and the German inspiration for this wine is a testament to that.  Its tropical and citrus aromas and flavors offer an elegance that are defined by its natural high acidity. Beautifully balanced and intense, this Inniskillin Riesling Icewine has notes of lemon grass, and honeydew melon on the nose. While on the palate, citrus and lime flavors highlight its fresh acidity. We don’t like serving this highly sought specialty wine with desserts, preferring a mild blue cheese, but the winery suggests serving it with a lemon tart, key lime pie and cheesecake.

The Wine Country.
