Fresh tasting and racy with enough fruit to make it pleasurable, this Mediterranean white wine specialty will serve as an excellent aperitif, and equally well with shellfish.
Description
A few years ago there was a Picpoul mini-fad going on. In case you missed it, Picpoul de Pinet is known as “the Muscadet of the South” and “Pinot Grigio with attitude”, a brisk white wine of the Mediterranean made from the ancient Picpoul grape which serves as the local shellfish wine. I was recently introduced to this fine example from Jadix, a fresh tasting and racy wine that still offers enough fruit to make it appealing, and excellent well-balanced wine for aperitif sipping, too. Jadix Picpoul is the newest project from Jean-Christophe and Margaret Calvet of Aquitaine Imports.
The Wine Country.
