Jean-Michel Guillon & Fils 2023 Gevrey-Chambertin "Cuvee Pere Galland", Burgundy

It’s getting difficult to find quality Gevrey Chambertin for under $125 these days, so I was happy the day this wine came into our store.  In the glass, the wine reveals a shimmering ruby color with an intriguing aroma and flavor of candied cherry fruit.  It’s a medium-weight wine, not super-concentrated, with the pretty fruit and sweet oak becoming brighter as you sip.  A touch of smoke and moderate tannins in the finish.  This is a wine that doesn’t shout at you.
