Jean Vesselle N.V. Champagne Brut Reserve, Bouzy

Recently we had an opportunity to revisit this handsome Bouzy champagne made entirely from the clear juice of Pinot Noir from vines that are 15-30 years old.  .  You can see something’s up with the slightly darker pale color.  Bouzy, after all, is well known in Champagne circles for its excellent Pinots.  The wine then spent 3 years on its lees before disgorging.  In the mouth, the full flavors, ample fruit and a little grip in the finish aptly demonstrate that this is someone’s wine.  It’s a quite impressive, full-bodied bubbly.
