La Petite Tour de Bessan 2020 Margaux, Bordeaux

This wine estate was originally part of the grounds of a 13th century tower situated in Soussans. Today, all that remains is some ruins of the former fortified site.  Once owned by the son of author Montesquieu, it was purchased in 1972 by Lucien Lorton, who handed the estate over to his daughter Marie-Laure in 1992 who revitalized the vines. The blend of 77% Merlot and 22% Cabernet Sauvignon and 1% Petite Verdot is textbook Margaux with leather, fig, sweet cigar and black currants. This second wine is polished, elegant, medium weight and approachable to drink now.
