Mas De Gourgonnier 2023 Les Baux de Provence Rouge, Provence

This is the most appealing Gourgonnier in memory…and that goes back decades!  The ghost castle and surrounding area of Les Baux is a food-lover’s vacation spot, famous for its olive oil and a certain kind of red wine that combines south-of-France varieties with Cabernet Sauvignon, in this case 35% Grenache, 20% Syrah, 10% Carignan and 35% Cabernet Sauvignon from 30 year old vines.  Juicy, yet firm, this Rhone-ish red offers a bit of a tannic grip in the finish.  It’s an exciting addition this year.
