Planteray "Original Dark" Rum, Barbados

The rum masters claim this rum is made to resemble rums aged in the 18th and 19th centuries.  It is first matured in heavily charred American oak barrels, then aged in Cognac in medium toasted French oak.  With a light mahogany color, there is a rich aroma of vanilla and caramel, with a taste similar to a rich Cognac.  It is nearly sweet tasting with hints of brown sugar, and the rum possesses a round, luxurious texture.  Blended by the cognac masters at Pierre Ferrand.
