Veuve Ambal Elysee Peche Sparkling Wine, France
Veuve Ambal has been producing sparkling wine in Burgundy since 1898. Founded by Anne-Marie Ninot, a Burgundian by birth and a widow of a Parisian banker, who returned to her native Rully to create award-winning sparkling wine made in the traditional manner. After passing to the Roux family in 1928, Veuve Ambal is now produced near Beaune, run by the 5th generation of the Roux/Piffaut family. Unlike many flavored sparkling wines, the peach infusion in Veuve Ambal's Elysee Peche is beautifully intense both in aroma and flavor, which leans a little sweet, but never in a cloying way. It is quite an accomplished wine for its genre. With a seductive aroma and flavor of freshly sliced white peaches, the Veuve Ambal Elysee Peche, a specialty French bubbly, makes a delightful addition to a Sunday brunch, an invigorating aperitif, and a friendly finish to a meal.
