A Young Winemaker on a Mission

Anthony Yount is a young winemaker who has a focus and drive to make outstanding white wine, even though he is based inf red wine-dominant Paso Robles, having worked for Denner and Villa Creek.  Anthony grew up with a father who did not enjoy white wine, and with that knowledge he set out to make and focus on making white wine that even his red-wine-only-drinking father would also enjoy.

With this mission and with great vineyards in Paso Robles, and Arroyo Grande, he has created a trio that speak volumes, but are not produced that way.  His winemaking style is simple and clean, the fruit and terroirs really shine through on his “Talley Vineyard” Chardonnay, “Alice” Grenache Blanc, and “Rustler” Roussanne.

2018 Kinero Cellars “Alice” Grenache Blanc, Paso Robles

This wine is a true beauty.  Elegant, fresh and vibrant, with aromas of stone fruit, honeydew melon, and a hint of white rose. T he minerality is the true star of the show as it laces its way down the palate intertwined with flavors of Meyer lemon and tropical botanicals, finishing with a tension and richness that put everything in balance.

2018 Kinero Cellars “Talley Vineyards” Chardonnay, Arroyo Grande Valley

If you love Central Coast wines, you've probably heard of Talley Vineyards of Arroyo Grande Valley.  Their most famous vineyard is the etate's Rosemary Chardonnay vineyard.

Kinero Cellars' Talley Vineyards Chardonnay comes from one single block of the Rosemary vineyard.  As you can imagine, the production on this wine is very small so I feel very fortunate that I could bring it into the store.

This wine will make you rethink the way you feel about California Chardonnay. Vibrant aromas of pineapple, lemon curd, flinty and peony. The palate is far from shy and is very direct and moves down the palate with purpose and flavors of white peach, baked pastries, toasted almonds and zesty citrus.  The mid-palate is silky and vibrant with a finish that has crazy longevity.

2018 Kinero Cellars “Rustler” Roussanne, James Berry Vineyard, Paso Robles

Seamless and balanced with dominate aromas of honeydew melon, gardenia, and buttered brioche.  The undertones are mineral driven with hints of sesame and flint.  The palate is dense and packed with apricot, citrus, and fresh honeycomb.  The finish is so clean and mindful that you crave more.  This wine does see a brief amount of time in used Hungarian oak.  Only 100 cases were produced.
