Andrew Jones- Planting and finding gems through California

Join us on March 28th for a tasting with special guest Owner and Winemaker of Field Recordings Andrew Jones. Besides being the person behind Field Recordings, Andrew is a vine nursery fieldman, meaning he helps grape growers all around California with the planning and planting their grape vines. Now with an in like that, Andrew knows where all the hidden gems are, because he planted them. He also gets first dibs at some of these vineyards because who else knows about them before he does? The insight Andrew has, from not only being a mind that is trying to find the perfect match of grape variety to vineyard site but also having a close connection to the grape growers, allows him to make single-vineyard wines that shine and be a standout in the low-intervention wine world.

One of the tricky parts of being a Winemaker of low-intervention wines and sourcing all your grapes, is that it is hard not to be repetitive. I mean how many vineyards are going to follow the concept of low-intervention grape growing that aren’t already being purchased by other Winemakers? When the sources are limited, everyone goes to those same sources. There’s a joke in Natural Wine circles; that you can easily guess where the Chenin Blanc grapes come from because there are only two vineyard sites that Winemakers use. That is unless you’re Andrew Jones. So join us on the 28th and get insight into what the man who has planted vines all across California finds to be the hidden gems.
