JUST ARRIVED: OUR ANNUAL ALLOCATION OF THE 2020 BURGUNDIES OF CAMUS-BRUCHON

The Wine Country has championed the beautiful wines of Savigny-les-Beaune’s Camus-Bruchon for nearly a quarter century.  Not only do they represent a classic approach to traditional Burgundian winemaking, but they have always been offered at prices well below their neighbors.  Don’t expect over-oaked bells and whistles with these wines.  Instead, enjoy true terroir, with only minimal influence from its oak cooperage.  Our annual allocation has just arrived in very limited amounts, and we want to offer them to our e-mail customers.

From Importer Beaune Imports:  Guillaume Camus is one of the rising stars in the Côte de Beaune, making wine from vineyard holdings in Savigny-Les-Beaune, Pommard and Beaune. While many of the more famous names in the area have caused a stir by trying one experimental technique after another in the wine-making process, Camus has been concentrating on his vineyards. He firmly believes that one can only make wine as good as the grapes that you grow, and that if you have to play around too much in the fermentation room trying to make a wine taste a certain way, then you have not done your job in the fields. In fact, when we visit him on a rainy day, he seems to enjoy spending time in the cellar, but if it’s sunny out, you can sense that he’d rather be out tending his vines. His vines are old (averaging at least 35 years) and in some cases very old.  He uses approximately 15% new oak following an extended maceration and fermentation time of at least 18 days. All his grapes are farmed sustainably, and the wines are fermented using indigenous yeast.  The wines are bottled unfiltered to preserve the natural balance of fruit and tannins.
