Las Jaras Wine Tasting with Owner and Winemaker Joel Burt
Join us on May 9th as we taste wines from Las Jaras with special guest, part-owner and winemaker Joel Burt. Joel teamed up with his friend, and television personality, Eric Wareheim (from the Tim and Eric show), to create Las Jaras with the mindset of making wines that highlight the terroir the grapes are grown in and make wines for all occasions. Need something for the beach, the park, camping or the Hollywood Bowl? They have canned wines that make packing in and packing out a breeze! Are you in need of wine to go with a wide variety of foods? Glou, Glou, Superbloom or the Slippers Nouveau will fill those needs. Do you want to sit down and think about a wine, something that will evolve in the glass while you’re enjoying the bottle? Crack open a single vineyard, single varietal wine like their Sta. Rita Hills Chardonnay or their Oregon Pinot Noir.
Las Jaras has become one of the most recognizable brands in the low-intervention wine world and it’s for good reason. We are lucky to have Joel down here for the second year in a row. You know how sometimes you meet a person and the first thought after you say goodbye is “dang, that person is cool!”. That’s what happened when I got to meet Joel for the first time a few years back. I was at a lunch hosted by the supplier of Las Jaras where we got to meet Joel and try the newest releases from Las Jaras. What I wasn’t expecting was to see Eric Wareheim there as well. Now while most would expect the one with the big television personality to take up all the air in the room, Eric himself admitted that when it came to the business “I’m here to enjoy the wine and tell Joel what I think would make a good wine. Joel is here to make these delicious wines and tell me when I’m dreaming too big.” And for the rest of the lunch, Eric Wareheim sat back and enjoyed the options of wines, which paired wonderfully with a wide range of Thai dishes, while Joel did what he does best; paint a picture for each wine featured. So let Joel paint you a picture of these wines he has worked with from grape to bottle on May 9th. Wines to be featured at the tasting are;
