MARCH'S SPIRIT OF THE MONTH--BOSTON HARBOR DISTILLERY DEMON SEED WHISKEY

March’s Spirit of the Month is Boston Harbor Distillery’s Demon Seed Whiskey. Founded in 2012 by Rhonda Kallman, a pioneer in the beer industry, Boston Harbor Distillery was created by Rhonda so she could make what she really likes to drink; Whiskey. The distillery is located in a historical building in the Boston Harbor that was built in 1859. While Boston Harbor Distillery makes a handful of spirits, Demon Seed is by far their most unique. The flavored Whiskey is made with scorpion peppers, ginger and maple syrup and while some of you might see this as a gimmick, the only joke being pulled with this spirit is how much you’ll appreciate the craftsmanship after you have had it.

Noticeable pepper heat up front is balanced out by the richness of the maple syrup. Once you get past the heat, the peppers bring out earthy characteristics that play well with traditional baking spice flavors found in American Whiskey. Those spices help the ginger come out more and is paired with the maple syrup on the finish. Besides the flavors standing out on their own, the label for Demon Seed stands out as well. Based on the story of Saint Dunstan and the origin of the Lucky Horseshoe, you’ll consider yourself lucky for trying this Whiskey.
