YOUR GUIDE TO SOBER OCTOBER

It's that time of year where the weather is changing (in other States), American Football is in full force, Halloween decorations are going up, pumpkins have been spiced and we in the retail business are getting mentally prepared for the busiest time of year. October has a lot going on in it and a newer tradition that is becoming more popular is Sober October. Since January we have expanded our Non-Alcoholic section and now have a wide variety to fit anyone's tasting palate. Here are top picks of Non-Al products from Jeremy, Jessica and Dylan.

Jeremy: “Spirits”

Lyre's G&T $3.99 a can- This is our best selling Non-Al mocktail and it's easy to see why. Super vibrant juniper flavor, light notes of citrus and softer herbal characteristics. Just really simple and easy to enjoy.

BonBuz Tomorrow Things $3.99 a can- When you need a little pick me up in your cocktail, this contains 50mgs of natural caffeine. Vibrant lime and yuzu brings a zippiness to mocktail while the Hibiscus calms everything down and rounds out the finish.

Savyll Mojito $3.99 a can- Pretty straight forward with this one. Bright lime zest, softer mint and herbal flavors, nice little bit of sweetness on the finish.

Ghia Le Spritz Ghia Ginger $4.99 a can- Vibrant and very appealing, this canned mocktail has a lot of flavors layered in it. Bright pops of ginger, softer dark fruit to balance out the "spice" of the ginger, soft lemon characteristics and light herbal flavors. I enjoy all the cans from Ghia but the Ginger is my favorite.

St. Agrestis Phony Negroni $5.99 a can- Now you don't get as much of a Gin profile on this one as you do in the Lyre's G&T but the other components of the Negroni are very expressive. Herbal and slight bitter with a touch of dark fruit sweetness on the finish. If you're looking for more Gin characteristics, throw this into a can of Lyre's and make your day.

Dylan: The “Beer”

Southern Grist Company Pils $3.79 a can- This non-alc Pilsner may have you digging into the recycling bin just to double check to make sure that you haven't broken your Sober October. This true to style Lager has notes of honey and bread and finishes with a pleasant floral hop bite.

Fremont Brewing Non-Alcoholic IPA $2.19 a can-  Fremont achieved something here that a lot of other non-alc ipas do not, balance. Citra and Citra Cryo hops perfume this beer with notes of lemon, orange and guava. Full in hop flavor and light in body, sweetness, and bitterness.

Untitled Art Mango Dragonfruit Sour $3.39 a can- Untitled Art held back on nothing but the alcohol with this heavily fruited Berliner-style Weisse. Brewed and fermented with real mango, pink guava, and red dragonfruit. This bursts with juicy tropical flavor and a delightful tartness that will leave any sour beer lover satisfied.

Jessica: The “Wines”

Thomson & Scott "Noughty" Alcohol Free Sparkling Rose, Germany $19.99- A peachy pink hue and berry aromas precede a red fruit palate. Harmoniously sweet and acidic with a medium-dry finish.Made with a spirit of transparency and playfulness, Thomson & Scott’s Noughty wines are organic, sustainably sourced, and free of unnecessary fillers. The Noughty Alcohol-Free Sparkling Rosé is a clean, refreshing presentation of the beloved pink wine. Organic Tempranillo grapes from sandy, calcareous vineyards in southern Spain are fermented in stainless steel before being dealcoholized through vacuum distillation. Aromas are recovered and, after a short maceration, the wine is lightly carbonated and bottled.

Thomson & Scott "Noughty" Dealcoholized Syrah, South Africa $23.99- Deliciously well-balanced with hints of ripe red fruit, crushed black pepper, dried rose petal and candied cherries integrated with French oak tannins. Great alternative to any elegant alcoholic red wine to be paired accordingly. This is a smooth and well-balanced red wine that exhibits ripe fruit characteristics, crushed black pepper, and dried rose petals. The Noughty Rouge is made from Syrah grapes grown on dry land in Darling, South Africa, and aged for 12 months. Strategic locations are selected where grapes are grown so that they receive the warm sun and the cooling winds. This sophisticated wine is low in sugar, low calories, and B-Corp certified, making it suitable for anyone. Dealcoholized to 0.5% ABV using a gently spun cone technology under vacuum and at low temperature to ensure that the wine retains its distinctive body, color and flavor.

I think kava is also a great option for sober october. it has social anxiety reducing effects in addition to a great tradition in the south pacific. My favorite vendor is www.artofkava.com. You should reach out to them.
