ESCAPING IN CHAMPAGNE BUBBLES
2020, well that dumpster fire happened right? Still happening I suppose. I used to write a year in review but now all I want is this year in my rear-view. We’ve been on this ride long enough and sadly there doesn’t seem to be much light at the end of this long ass tunnel. Not thinking that at the stroke of midnight 2021 brings with it a big fire hose to wash out the stain of 2020 but, well, a flicker of hope maybe sounds pretty nice right about now, don’t you think?
No need for this wine slinger to give you all a recap. You’ve all been in the same shitty tilt-a-whirl ride. Feeling queasy but getting up each day and doing our best to get through it, support one another and try and find happiness, adventure, and utter joy in the little things. Reading, binging, Zooming, baking, investigating your neighborhood, trying to be present in those moments and saturating ourselves in the stuff that feeds and feels amazing. That’s why I was more than willing to take a late in the year tasting appointment with two different suppliers, both lugging wine bags stuffed with super limited grower Champagnes. Calgon ain’t got nothing on taking me away like a thrilling puddle of richly scented, layered, and lip-smacking Champagne.
Finding a new wine to explore reminds me of going on a really great first date, captivating and deliciously unforgettable. Landed on a bunch of new, extremely limited Champagnes and the first drop arrived last week.
Let’s ride out of this craptastic year glasses held high, propelled by bubbles and curiosity. Open to learning, sharing and continuing to find pleasure whenever we can.
