EXPLORING SKIN-CONTACT WHITE WINES! SATURDAY AUGUST 24th, 2024
Join us on August 24th and explore the growing world of skin-contact white wines! With my 15 years of experience in this industry, it is amazing to see the wave of trends come and go. One wave I have been excited to see more hang-10 on is the skin-contact white wines. Also called Amber, Orange wines, or sometimes if you leave the skins of Pinot Gris on long enough, the lightest hue of pink you’ll find. While the interest in skin-contact white wines has been growing over the last 4 years, there was an explosion of new drinkers after the 60 Minutes segment on Amber Wines from the country of Georgia closer to the end of 2023.
People are discovering that these wines they have enjoyed for years when direct pressed, can have so much more character, so much more structure, or even taste nothing like they have traditionally, with just a few days of grape skins left on during fermentation. You don’t think white wines can have tannic characteristics? Come to the tasting on the 24th and find out for yourself how dry that Pinot Blanc can be. Never thought you’d taste a wine that tastes just like an Arnold Palmer (but with more structure and balance), join me on the 24th and you’ll get the chance.
Join us on the 24th of August and get to try these wines along with some others:
2023 Deux Punx De la Soif Natural White Wine, Napa
2022 Orsogna Lunaria Pinot Grigio Ramoro Terre di Chieti, Abruzzo, Italy
2022 Gatto Arancio White Wine, Marche, Italy
Vinovore Safari Sunset Orange Wine, Italy
